Expansion Tanks
This non-potable water expansion tank is designed for use in commercial and residential closed loop hydronic heating system piping to control the thermal expansion of hot water and maintain system pressure below the relief setting of the relief valve. This carbon steel tank is pre-charged at 12 PSI, tank volume is 4.5 gal. and features a durable expansion membrane that prevents contact of the water with the air in the tank. This rugged butyl diaphragm minimizes loss of the air change and ensures long and trouble-free life for the system. This tank is made of carbon steel with epoxy , mounts to supply piping, 1/2 in. MNPT system connection and a 0.302-32 in. charging valve connection (standard tire valve) to facilitate on-site charging of the tank to meet system requirements. The maximum working pressure is 75 PSI (5.3 BAR).

The 2.1 gallon XT-8 Thermal Expansion Tank is utilized on potable water lines between the backflow preventer or pressure reducing valve and the water heater for protection against water thermal expansion in residential applications. As the system pressure increases, water enters the polypropylene-lined water chamber of the tank, expanding a diaphragm into a pre-charged air chamber to keep the system pressure below the relief valve setting. Materials include a carbon steel shell with an epoxy finished coating, and corrosion-resistant stainless steel connection with a polypropylene liner and Butyl rubber diaphragm.
- Pre-charge is field adjustable for convenient maintenance
- Carbon steel shell with polypropylene liner ensures long-lasting construction
- Diaphragm style tank is ideal for thermal expansion protection in residential applications
- Stainless steel connection resists corrosion
- Low-lead law compliant
- IAPMO Listed
- Water Quality Association - Certified to NSF/ANSI 61 & 372
- Easy to install
- Steel shell protected with polypropylene liner
- For use with potable water
Designed for installation on potable water lines between the backflow preventer or pressure reducing valve and the water heater to protect against water thermal expansion. When system pressure increases, water enters the tanks polypropylene lined water chamber which expands a diaphragm into a pre-charged air chamber, keeping system pressure below the relief valve setting.
